In 2006, independent broker Blake Taylor founded Taylor Real Estate, a full-service real estate brokerage firm based in the heart of Austin. Focused on helping people achieve the dream of home ownership, Taylor Real Estate specializes in providing individually tailored service for clientele in the downtown, central and west Austin areas.

“We are a very small team, which allows us to change course quickly and serve our clients at the very highest level possible,” Taylor says. “Every person on our team has a hand in the transaction and gets to know our clients.”

Prior to founding his business with now wife, Lindsay, Taylor was a student at the University of Texas, where he noticed how difficult it was to find affordable, yet quality living. After living in an over-priced apartment in disrepair, Taylor and his dad found and purchased a condo. “I slept in a sleeping bag on the floor for three months while I did the work to fix it up,” Taylor says. “It became a great place to live, and we earned a great profit when we sold later. After that experience, I knew I wanted to go into real estate.”

While Taylor realized his professional ambitions during college, his career path could have been very different. “Not many people know that in high school, I hadreceived a full music scholarship in music to play the double bass in the Baylor orchestra,” Taylor says. “I ended up going to UT instead, but still love music to this day.”

Additionally, Taylor had considered going to medical school to become a doctor. “Much like real estate, I believe the medical profession is both an art and a science, and it combines experience, hard data and a gut feeling that leads us to a final solution,” he says.

Throughout his career in real estate, Taylor has had the opportunity to market and sell an array of property types and styles, helping hundreds of people purchase their dream homes in Austin. For Taylor, developing and nurturing his relationships with his clients has been one of the biggest drivers to his success. “My favorite part of the job is knowing that some of my most meaningful friendships have come from past clients,” he says. “We treat our clients like family and by the end of a transaction, we feel often feel like family.”

In addition to a meaningful relationship with his clients, Taylor has found success in the real estate industry through hard work, attention to detail and professionalism. “We work in an industry where there is a wide range of professionalism and standards.

Taylor continues, “When you look at the difference between a profitable orunprofitable business, the difference in a transactional experience versus a lifelong relationship success is foundin the details. I also believe that success comes when we treat our business with the utmost professionalism. This means respecting other agents, their clients, and our own time. It means looking for a win-win for all parties involved and keeping emotions in check. If we don’t all work together in this fashion, then we as an industry all fail.

Earlier this year, Taylor’s success was recognized by the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Austin’s REALTOR of the Year Award. Taylor says that most people don’t understand the intimate role realtors play in families’ lives when they are buying or selling a home. “When I won the award, I felt like for one moment in time – someone noticed,” he says. “Nothing about this business is easy, but it’s worth it. Seeing happy clients or families enjoying their new home is extremely rewarding.” Taylor Real Estate is currently growing, and Broker, Blake Taylor, would love to hear from agents interested in joining a team that values the importance of family, goals and a professional atmosphere.
