Specializing in Hill Country estate homes with open concept floor plans, Giddens Homes was founded in 2010 with a customer-oriented approach. “We’re a small local builder focused on customer satisfaction and making the new home building process easy for our customers,” says James Giddens, founder, owner and president of Giddens Homes. “Our designs always offer lots of natural light, large room sizes and abundant storage spaces.”
While founder James Giddens, who had recently left a large public homebuilding company, only had plans to build three to four homes per year with no staff, Giddens Homes has quickly become one of Austin’s premier builders.
“I was given the opportunity to add some key associates in our early years, and today, we have grown to close 60-70 properties per year, with an average sales price of close to $600k,” Giddens says. “Fortunately, since I had been in the Austin homebuilding market since the early 1980s, I had good contacts on both the land side and contractor side. Giddens Homes was able to enter top notch developments and have an excellent group of quality suppliers and subcontractors.”
Giddens Homes primarily builds in Northwest Austin in Williamson County including Liberty Hill, Leander and West Georgetown, as well as West Round Rock, Cedar Park and North Lake Travis. Currently, they are building in master-planned communities like Grand Mesa at Crystal Falls in Leander, Greatwood in Leander, Clearwater Ranch in Liberty Hill, Northgate Ranch in Liberty Hill, The Hollows on Lake Travis in Jonestown/Lago Vista and The Estates at Santa Rita Ranch in Liberty Hill.
Additionally, the company is constantly considering new communities and markets focusing on areas with larger homesites, such as The Hollows on Lake Travis, its most recent community.
“I have had my eye on the North Lake Travis area for many years, but could not find the right opportunity,” Giddens says. “When Legacy bought The Hollows, they provided a gateway into a long-term building opportunity in a terrific location between Jonestown and Lago Vista. We have been active in the West Georgetown market for several years and are in the process of finding a replacement community after selling out in the Mission Oaks community.”
Giddens Homes properties offer open concept floor plans with lofty ceilings, expansive windows, ample storage and closet space, three-car side garages and stone and stucco exteriors. “We offer a wide range of floor plans with numerous luxury features such as 8-foot interior doors, granite countertops throughout the home, double ovens and microwave drawers, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces, large kitchen islands, built-in pest defense systems, security systems with WiFi remote access and many more,” Giddens continues, “In addition to these notable features, we have various options to choose from and can customize any of our floorplans to suit a buyer’s specific need. We’re always improving our products and designing new floor plans to meet current buyer trends.”
Giddens Homes’ buyers are just as diverse as their floorplan and design options. “Our homebuyers are mainly local move up buyers or re-locating newcomers to the market,” Giddens says. “We also get a mix of young families, empty-nesters and retirees looking for their forever home.”
According to Giddens, much of his company’s success can be attributed to the community it serves. “We are fortunate to have our business in the Austin marketplace,” he says. “The strong job growth in Austin, as well as the quality of life offered, has been a big part of our success. I have also been blessed with a group of employees who love the homebuilding business and believe strongly in the products we are offering.”
For those interested in building a home in the Austin area, Giddens Homes has proven to be one of the area’s most sought after builders. “Giddens Homes is committed to providing luxurious features, quality construction and overall value,” Giddens says. “The fact that we are small local builder without many corporate layers makes it easier for homebuyers and realtors to do business with our company.”
