2020 is the Year of Story for the Austin Network of the Women’s Council of REALTORS. From our business luncheon speakers to our social media discussions we are taking time to explore our shared story as a council and the stories and narratives of our individual members. Even our charity focus for the year contributes to our theme by helping young girls lead braver life stories at the Girls Empowerment Network, a local non-profit that helps girls build more confident mindsets.

Our business luncheon speakers and topics throughout 2020 will explore ways for us to increase our understanding of our personal and business stories while actively working to give members tools and resources to share our stories more effectively We kicked off the year in February with Caroline Crawford, chief programming director of the Girls Empowerment Network, who spoke about growth mindset and how storytelling is negatively affecting the confidence of our young girls. The packed room of real estate professionals learned valuable lessons about how a poor self-story can linger in the minds of women throughout their careers. Our hope is that the Austin WCR can be a role model for local girls showing them a profession and an industry where girls excel and lead at a high level. An industry where 60 percent of its members are women and the sky’s the limit in terms of opportunity.

We sincerely hope all agents will consider attending one of our WCR business luncheons and join us for this year-long exploration of the story. Our next luncheon is Wednesday, May 6 at Maggiano’s at the Domain. Connect with us on Facebook to stay in the loop on event details at www.facebook.com/wcr.austin.
